You’ll find one of the most beautiful places in Tuscany with a magnificent view overlooking large parts of the region in Volterra, a town with old etruscan roots dating back to the end of the 8th century BC.
The town gained recent popularity due to being an important location in the Twilight series, thus you’ll find many touristic references to the books and movies in Volterra’s streets.
Nevertheless the town is absolutely worth a stop over for the beautiful view alone.
Other points of interest include the Volterra Cathedral, Etruscan Walls, Medicean Fortress, a Roman Theatre and an Etruscan Museum among others.
